     United Philippine Lines, Inc. (UPL) was established in 1960 and has been in operations since then. It operated a liner service of seven (7) cargo vessels serving a trade route between the Philippines and the United States via Hong Kong and Japan. UPL later on extended its operations to ship management, husbanding agency, general agency and chartering.
With its international partners, UPL managed various vessels such as oil tankers, LPG carriers, product carriers, supply vessels, ocean tugs and bulk carriers.
UPL then ventured to other major industries such as deep-sea fishing. After which, its license was issued in the year 1972 and started to be the manning agent to prestigious companies such as Holland America Line, Shell International, Belships and Windstar Cruises.
UPL has been in the industry for 58 years and takes pride in fulfilling its social obligations and responsibilities to the crew, their families, and to the community. Given its commitment to promoting Filipino talent for overseas employment and protecting crew welfare, UPL has been bestowed the Presidential Awards of Excellence for the Deployment of Filipino Seafarers for the year 2014.
